Background

About Lawrence Katumba

As a Graduate Research Assistant at ICHAD, I contribute to the eradication of poverty and the promotion of public health in adolescents and low-income households. I apply my epidemiological skills and knowledge to the Clear Path HIV group model building project, which aims to develop and test a novel intervention to improve HIV care outcomes among young adults in Uganda. I assist with data collection, analysis, and dissemination, as well as stakeholder engagement and capacity building. I am also a Master of Public Health candidate at Washington University in St. Louis, with a focus on epidemiology. I am passionate about addressing the social and structural determinants of health, especially in low-resource settings. I have a diverse and international background, having worked as an emergency medicine fellow in South Korea and a researcher at Entebbe regional referral hospital in Uganda. I am an alumnus of Makerere University College of Health Sciences, where I obtained my medical degree. I am eager to learn from and collaborate with experts and peers in the field of public health, and to apply my skills and knowledge to make a positive impact on the health and well-being of vulnerable populations.
