About Lawrence Kramer
I am passionate about student learning and have taught biology courses, including Anatomy and Physiology (A&P), for several years. I see my role as a faculty member as one of motivating, equipping, and encouraging students to be successful learners. Fostering critical thinking and teaching science as an inquiry-based process is a key part of effective teaching. To do this I use multiple approaches, including discussions, group work, and case studies to engage students in learning biological concepts and thinking through real world issues and consequences. I spend time individually with my students and they realize I sincerely care about them. As a result, some who were overwhelmed or discouraged were able to succeed beyond what they thought possible. I enjoy providing mentoring to students, which my own non-traditional career path has helped.
