Lawrence Edward Staab: Inventor, Research Scientist, TV Producer, Actor, Training Specialist, & Environmentalist. Acting has been Lawrence's sideline. He played roles in several indie films and had a walk-on role in the CBGB Film in a scene with Alan Rickman & Freddy Rodriguez. IMDB:"Lawrence Staab" and "Lawrence Edward Staab". Before establishing a video production business with Deb Hargroves, Lawrence spent 8 yrs as a Training Coordinator for Kinder Morgan & Royal Dutch Shell during the development of Elba Isle LNG Plant, 11 years as a corporate technical training Director of Programs for FlightSafety International (a Berkshire Hathaway Company) supporting Gulfstream Aerospace. After a successful City of Pittsburgh governmental TV Manager, Unitel Sports Assist. Director and Univ. of Pittsburgh career in TV Production, research, and development (First Born Project & Family Communications WQED TV), Lawrence teamed up and created a business with Claude Galipeault in bio-energy technologies in Savannah, GA. “Fiber Fuel International” (FFI) was incorporated in 1990 and sold in 1998. The Southern Company (one of the world’s largest energy production holding companies) hired FFI to produce test fiber fuel (biomass) and coordinate a consortium of companies to construct full-scale conversion of Savannah Electric’s 50-megawatt coal-fired power plant to efficiently co-fire both coal and biomass at levels reducing coal emissions by 40%- 50%. This successful project has been described as the industry's most successful co-firing conversion by the Standard Handbook of Power Plant Engineering, McGraw Hill, 1997. The success also led Galipeault and Staab to co-inventors of Methods of Co-Firing & Energy Generation: US Patent 5, 609, 113, and International Patent PCTl2243. He holds a Master's Degree in Educational Communications & Technology with a BA in Communications & Psychology, both from the Univ. of Pittsburgh. Lawrence earned an Executive Management Certificate from Carnegie Mellon University an Quality Management Certificate, FAA Instructor Development certification, TMS, and Customer Service Training from FlightSafety International. He has received over 35 national awards for television production, including an ACE Award (precursor to The Regional Emmys ). Lawrence Staab served as president and on the board of directors of several international trade associations. He has been a speaker for the United States, Canada, Sweden, Venezuela, Nicaragua, Guatemala, and the Denmark Renewable Energy conferences.
