About Laz Lee

I was born in Cuba and raised in Chicago. Growing up in Chicago, I was exposed to all sorts of music so I developed an eclectic taste in music. My first instrument was the guitar. In college I studied traditional music theory and classical piano. I developed an appreciation and love for classical music. I also took some jazz courses and developed a love for jazz as well. I always remained connected to my Cuban roots. I began playing piano in Afro-Cuban and Latin jazz bands locally in the Chicago area. After finishing my undergrad I focused on performing and composing music. I also taught music full time in the public schools for a few years. My ability to write and arrange music, as well as record and mix music in the studio, has led me to opportunities to produce music for others. I have and continue to produce music for local singers, songwriters, spoken word artists, bands, etc. It is my passion.
