About Leabetswe Bomvana

Leabetswe (Lea) Bomvana is the Executive Head: Strategy and Execution for Metropolitan, within the Momentum Metropolitan Holdings. Prior to that, she headed Strategic Portfolio Management Offices for the South African Reserve Bank, Old Mutual Insure and was the Divisional Director for Strategic Projects at Liberty Group SA. Lea has over 18 years experience occupying various roles in Strategy and IT PMOs - both in the public and private sector. She is responsible for bridging the gap between organisational strategy and the intended results. Lea is an adjunct lecturer for UNISA school of Business Leadership on the Postgraduate Diploma in Project Management and also serves on the MomentumMetropolitan Holdings Foundation Board as Executive Director. She also served on the Executive Committee of PMI SA as Vice President: Branches- where she oversees performance of all branches in SA. Prior to joining the insurance sector, she enjoyed a 5 year successful tenure at Transnet SOC Ltd, where she was Deputy Chairman of the Transnet Project Management Forum as well as a Portfolio Manager in the Group IT PMO. She established and structured the Group IT PMO and standardised project governance processes across Transnet’s 7 Operating Divisions. In pursuit of diversifying her industry experience- Lea was a Strategy and Management Consultant at Letsema Consulting and Advisory, a sub-Saharan partner to McKinsey.
