About Leah Brody

I acknowledge that I come from the Squamish Nation and reside on the Unceded Ancestral and Traditional Territories of the Shishalh and Squamish Peoples. This deep connection to culture and community informs my work and dedication to supporting First Nations communities through health and emergency management initiatives.As a dedicated professional in Health Emergency Management, I am currently serving as a Health Emergency Management Manager at the First Nations Health Authority. My role involves coordinating operations and ensuring efficient emergency response strategies are in place to support communities.In addition to my primary position, I am privileged to work with the Canadian Mental Health Association as a Manager. Here, I lead a community-based First Nations peer program that addresses the pressing issue of the Toxic Drug Crisis, collaborating with peers and stakeholders to create impactful solutions.I am also a master’s student candidate graduating in Spring 2026 from the Disaster and Emergency Management program at Royal Roads University. My academic pursuit is driven by a commitment to advancing my expertise and contributing to innovative approaches in emergency management.Additionally, I serve as a Board of Directors for the Canadian Journal of Emergency Management.
