About Leah Duncan

I am double majoring in Spanish and International Business. I have a big passion for learning and expanding my general knowledge. I love to travel and experience new cultures. My international business degree will allow me to expand my interest in how globalisation connects business aspects to different cultures. Languages are another passion of mine but not only learning the language, I also love learning about the history and the culture that belongs to the country of that language. As well as studying, I am also part of the Division I Track team at Drake. Though sometimes proven to be challenging at times, the balance of school, track and day to day life have provided me with different skills which are applicable to many different situations whether that be time management, communicating effectively or leadership skills. I naturally fall into leadership roles and my experience of this is being leaders in projects at school, team manager for track teams and coaching experiences I have had. Since the start of the semester, I have been working as a student intern in the Robert D and Billie Ray Center here at Drake, as part of the Character Counts program. The intern opportunities I have gained here allow me to study, run track and work in an environment that is positive and teaching. I have gained new skills and experiences and look forward to the future with the team. Besides Drake, I am from the UK and this summer I gained lots of experience at my Part Time job at Boddingtons Electrical Ltd where I was office administrator in the marketing department. Here I gained skills such as Photoshop, Ortery Photobooth, excel, website marketing, and uploading pictures, prices and weights to a website. This has provided me with allowing me to practice skills that I have and apply them to the world of work. Alongside my summer job at Boddingtons, I have also demonstrated and learnt different admin skills in another company Foremost Financial Management where I have here used Salesforce, iBusiness and generated marketing campaigns and invitations for financial advisors.
