About Leah Dworkin

As an assistant field director I serve as a mentor, leader, and trainer for field staff at Open Sky Wilderness Therapy, located in Durango, Colorado. This role provides leadership for the field department by overseeing and delivering a comprehensive guide training and development program. Between 2015-2018 I worked as a Senior field guide at Open Sky, leading groups on backpacking expeditions. During this time I worked primarily with a group of adolescent girls, ages 13-17. Students learn soft and hard skills, such as creating shelters and learning to make fire using natural materials, in addition to practicing therapeutic skills and assignments assigned by a clinical group therapist. Previous work experience includes two years as a social studies teacher at Overland High School in Aurora, Colorado. I taught Contemporary World History, Government, and U.S. History in both a standard and ELA setting. Additionally, I coached the JV softball team. I graduated from Lehigh University May 2012 with my B.A in History and minors in English, Psychology, and Jewish Studies. In May 2013, I completed my Masters program in Education.
