About Leah Jackson

From the Kootenay Boundary region of B.C, and completed my undergraduate degree in Community Development & History at St. Francis Xavier in Antigonish, N.S. After gaining international development experience through a social movement learning research project in Ada, Ghana, I worked at Nova Scotia Community College as a Student Life Coordinator. This role enabled me to gain skills in leadership development, conflict resolution, event planning, service coordination, and marketing/communications. My love of the mountains, hiking, and family brought me back to the Kootenay Boundary region in 2016, where I stumbled upon my career in health care systems change. Since then, I've been fortunate to work alongside residents, family physicians, specialists, community members, Health Authority representatives, Medical Staff Associations, and the KB Division of Family Practice to improve health care services in the region. My volunteer experience includes work in food security, community fundraising, and event coordination. I am currently completing a Masters of Community Development at the University of Victoria, with a keen interest in researching the Community Health Centre model of care. In my spare time, you can find me teaching yoga, running, listening to podcasts, and seeking out mountain adventures any chance I can get!
