About Leah Jamison

MY MISSION Nutrition is underutilized in its capacity to prevent chronic disease. My career aspiration is to positively impact population health outcomes with climate-friendly, plant-based, equitable interventions. I believe investments in the built environment are the best way to achieve this, and I believe that we should improve the way peer-reviewed literature is shared with non-scientific audiences. MY BACKGROUND I earned my Bachelor's degree in Biochemistry and went on to pursue a Master's degree in Public Health. My professional career has largely been research-based but diverse in topics. For example, I developed an investment case for neglected tropical diseases in Ghana while adapting a cost-benefit model for adolescent mental health interventions in England. Other research topics have included USDA organic product labelling, UNICEF malnutrition interventions, and food-grade phospholipid extraction techniques for use in dark chocolate bars. SKILLS I have skills in database management and data analysis, systematic literature reviews, RStudio, MS office suite, transcribing, and video editing. I am well-versed in topics such as health systems strengthening, food systems, solo female travel, plant-based nutrition, and international development. I consider my strongest "soft" skills to be my love of detail, passion for learning, an honest and open communication style, and a sense of cultural competence acquired from living as a digital nomad in over 27 countries. OTHER Outside of research, I enjoy baking, running, traveling, and practicing photography.
