About Leah Lewis

I am an Associate Professor of Counselling Psychology at Memorial University in their St. John's campus. I am a creative arts therapist with 20 years experience as a practitioner. I have expertise in divorce processes, playtherapy and grief and bereavement therapy, and working with queer and trans populations from an affirmative lens. I lead research teams in the areas of qualitative health research, grief and illness and the new application of narrative grief therapy to chronically ill patient populations, as well as the use of patient-voiced content in medical and nursing education. My publications include one short film depicting my qualitative approaches to health research in progress, art hives as an approach to community psychology practice, and performance, digital, and critical illness authoethnographic methods in allied health curriculum and training.
