About Leah Staub

I received my Bachelor’s degree in Sociology from the University of Washington. As a part of DREAM project during my time at the University of Washington, I advised students on the fundamentals of FAFSA, applying for scholarships, and mentored those who were unsure about their future. My assistance with the start-up GEDboard allowed me to get to know and counsel people who didn’t necessarily have the confidence or know-how to attain their GED. I also directed many of these people to community and governmentally funded programs to help with living expenses or medical care. I maintain the interpersonal skills required to consistently guide and influence those who may not have confidence in themselves or have a generally apathetic view of their own education. I also have a deep interest in early childhood education, policies in education, and family studies. I have been working in childcare as a nanny or after-school care counselor for the last 11 years. I believe that children maintain a sort of wisdom that is often times lost or neglected within adults. I also believe in preventative measures; the way in which we teach and enrich children physically and emotionally today has a profound impact on future generations. I believe that it is possible to "break the cycle" in regard to addiction, poverty, and physical abuse - issues that plague societies and the families within them. I am an effectual and qualified asset who goes above and beyond due to my limitless passion for helping others and my broad understanding and skills regarding continuing education and community resources. I am currently looking for a position in which I can use my skills and experiences.
