About Leander Thorne

Throughout my carrier I have deliberately pursued a broad approach. I find it crucial to be versatile in a world in which borders between professional positions have become increasingly fluid. In all my social and professional experiences I have come to appreciate the importance of productive communication. It is the one vital factor that has been equally important during my time as a voluntary worker, globe trotter, student, intern, working student, employee, project manager, and entrepreneur. I chose to study automotive engineering due to my fascination for an industry defined by change and innovation. Environmental issues, urbanization and exponential growth of technological capabilities are forcing an industry to rethink and innovate. It is my goal as an engineer to contribute to the development of future mobility solutions and technologies. Beginning as a student engineer and then being promoted to project manager of the electric Formula Student Team of the TH Köln gave me valuable experience in mechanical engineering as well as business administration. After my two years on the project I took on a working student job in market research with LANXESS Deutschland GmbH to expand my technical foundation with a deeper insight towards the e-mobility industry. I then joined the suspension development department at BMW Motorrad as an intern tasked with calculation, analysis, documentation and design of parts and assemblies. As a working student with DEUTZ AG I contributed towards the design process of the eDeutz electric powertrain. I also had the chance to gather further engineering experience as a working student with Bertrandt AG tasked to work on premium OEM projects. In early 2022 I started my own company specialized on product design/manufacturing and consultation for personal as well as corporate Bitcoin security solutions. I am currently finalizing my bachelor degree with DEUTZ within the department for electric powertrain design. My focus is on leak testing methods for automotive batteries.
