About Leandro Freitas

Leandro Freitas is a Senior Environmental Consultant in the field of investigation, characterization, and remediation of contaminated sites at NewFields Brasil. He has a background in Environmental Engineering (UFV) and has 14 years of experience in the field. Previously, he worked as a Project Engineer and Environmental Coordinator at NewFields Brazil from 2011 to 2024. Leandro has an MBA in Management of Contaminated Areas, Sustainable Urban Development, and Brownfield Revitalization (USP) and an MBA in Project Management (UNISINOS). With solid experience in environmental consulting, Leandro specializes in various aspects of site characterization. His skills include developing investigation strategies, team coordination, using high-resolution tools, creating Conceptual Site Models and High-Resolution Site Characterization (HRSC). He also has extensive experience in managing field activities, coordinating, and operating treatment and sampling systems for groundwater, soil, vapor, sediments, and surface water in megasites and large companies. In addition, Leandro has received training in the USA, at Alpha Lab in Boston, on sampling quality, environmental data analysis, QA/QC, and data validation. He also is experienced in implementing and coordinating ISO 9001 certification and quality management tools. He has extensive experience in managing Health and Safety standards. Leandro also holds a postgraduate degree in Conflict Transformation and Peace Studies, with an emphasis on emotional balance, from the Paz & Mente Institute, in partnership with the UNESCO Chair for Peace Studies (University of Innsbruck). He has significant experience in leading field teams and managing projects, as well as solid skills in team development and building, communication, interpersonal relationships, and leadership. Leandro has participated and coordinated various remediation projects, using techniques such as soil excavation, contaminated sediment dredging, Air Sparging, In-Situ Chemical Oxidation (ISCO), In-Situ Stabilization/Solidification (ISS), and bioremediation.
