About Leandro Pires

I earned my bachelor's degree in Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering at Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro (Brazil). I was in an International Academic Mobility Program named CSF (Science Without Borders), which allowed me to study for 1 year at Universidad Politécnica de Madrid. During this year, I worked as an intern in Siport21 for 3 months, when I was involved in some projects about port facilities, mainly to Portuguese ports. I was responsible for translating documentation and doing some calculations following international rules and norms. In 2017, I worked as an intern at Leggio Consultancy, a Brazilian company that provides consultancy services about supply chain and logistics, focusing on maximizing the profitability of logistics assets. I was responsible for collecting and processing data for different projects, for several companies, such as ports, shipping companies, governmental agencies, and supply chain and logistics companies. Also, I developed some Excel tools, using Macro or VBA. In 2018, I became a Junior Consultant. Besides collecting and processing data, I was responsible for analyzing it, using graphs and statistical concepts. Also, I was responsible for preparing and presenting reports to customers, discussing results, and making conclusions. Since 2018 I am working at Siport21, a maritime consulting focusing on developing and optimizing harbours projects around the world. During these last years, I was responsible for many tasks, such as planning and monitored external training activities with captains and pilots from plenty of countries; Identifying needs and proposing solutions for clients; carrying out the formation of new trainees; designing harbours facilities based on standards, regulations and recommendations; developing fast-time and real-time simulation manoeuvres applying numerical models: adjust coefficients to accurate ship behaviour during these manoeuvres; developing internal tools implementation aiming optimise the process; carrying out simple Data Analysis through tools developed internally coding in VBA for Excel or Python; elaborating reports for intermediate and final clients; build and maintain a good relationship with the customer.
