About Leandro Varanda

Leandro Varanda, BS, Director, is homebased in Portugal. and has over 21 years of experience in clinical research and development including 17 years of project and clinical team management experience. He joined PPD Brazil in the year of starting as a Research Assistant, and moved to PPD Portugal in January 2023. Mr. Varanda has clinical therapeutic experience in several therapeutic areas, including indications in Oncology (Ovarian, Solid Tumor, Head & Neck, NSCLC and Colorectal), Transplant (Liver, Kidney and heart), Infectious diseases (Resistant bacteria and CMV), and others. Mr. Varanda graduated from the Universidade de São Paulo with a B.S. in Pharmacy-Biochemistry degree and is proficient in Portuguese, Spanish and English languages. Mr. Varanda is currently the Global Project Manager for 2 Infectious Disease Trials being conducted in North America, Europe and Asia (32 countries and more than 200 sites combined). As the Global Project Manager, Mr. Varanda has the overall coordination and management responsibilities of these trials from startup through the final deliverables. Mr. Varanda has experience in leading, staffing, budgeting and coordinating complex Global projects on all levels. Mr. Varanda also has experience online management and on developing less experienced team members.
