About Leanne A.

I’m a Computer Science major (Software Engineering concentration) with a Mathematics minor at Purdue University, and I plan to graduate in December 2025. Outside of school, I have extensive experience in software development, including internships and personal projects I’ve built over the years. In all of these roles I’ve worked with Agile/Scrum methodologies, a variety of programming languages, and tools that accelerate team development. As a research assistant at Purdue, I’ve been part of a fantastic project called Teamwork Level Up. The core question of this research is how to best teach teamwork and collaboration skills to the emerging workforce-skills that are essential across virtually every industry. By exploring video games as educational tools, the project lets me combine my passion for software development with this important challenge. As a team lead, I also manage the organization of our software development process to make it smoother for our developers. I’ve always enjoyed teaching. At Purdue, I’ve served as the lead teaching assistant for the iOS Development in Swift course for the past few years. Teaching this class has been a powerful learning experience: the insights and questions from students have sharpened my own Swift and iOS development skills. Explaining concepts to others is one of the best ways to cement knowledge, and I find it rewarding to watch students create impressive projects in the course.
