About Leanne Archer

I am an editor, journalist, chief sub-editor and copywriter with more than 30 years' experience working across high-profile magazine and newspaper mastheads, currently as the Editor of Vacations & Travel magazine (vacationstravel.com/magazine-issues/). Having worked on daily, weekly and monthly publications, I am well-attuned to the day-to-day running and deadline demands of busy media organisations. I have also worked as a copywriter in the corporate and not-for-profit sectors, as well as holding casual positions with InStyle magazine, News Prestige, Primer Media, Camp Quality and Canteen. As Editor of Vacations & Travel, I oversee and contribute to the quality output of that stunning publication, from concept stage to completion. In my previous full-time role, as the Chief Sub-Editor of Stellar magazine, I ensured quality control of that weekly magazine, which has the highest reach of any publication in Australia with a readership of Before that, I was a full-time Senior Sub-Editor at marie claire magazine, a role I held for nearly eight years. I began my career completing a three-year journalism cadetship on Melbourne's Herald Sun newspaper and working as a graded reporter, before leaving Australia to travel. After picking up work as a journalist on London's TNT Magazine, I continued to work for that publication on my return to Australia. During this time, I was also a contributing entertainment writer for Hong Kong's South China Morning Post. I am a versatile writer and editor with a proven ability to adapt my copy to varying audiences and house styles. I also have an interest in screenwriting. In 2014 I completed the Screenwriting For Film: Online course at the Australian Film, Television And Radio School (AFTRS) and I've since finished a feature-length screenplay. As a journalist and copywriter, I have kept abreast of content marketing techniques; in 2023 I have undertaken further training in SEO keyword and topic research, using programs including SEMRush, and optimising copy via SEO review platforms.
