About Leanne Coder

As a Professor of Management at Western Kentucky University, I’m passionate about helping college students develop the confidence, professionalism, and career readiness they need to succeed in business. I bring over a decade of industry experience at Hallmark Cards, where I held leadership roles in engineering, inventory, logistics, and human resources. I use that background to bring practical, real-world insights into the classroom. I teach various management and HR courses, including career preparation classes that guide students through resume building, networking, mock interviews, and job offer strategies. I also serve as the Faculty Fellow for Student Success in the Gordon Ford College of Business, leading initiatives to strengthen our curriculum and enhance students’ career development across the college. My research focuses on career self-efficacy, job attainment, and small business performance. I’ve published in journals like the Journal of Business Research and the Journal of Small Business Strategy. I’m a former President of the Small Business Institute and continue to present regularly at national conferences. When students understand their strengths, build strong habits, and feel supported, I believe they’re empowered to pursue careers with purpose and confidence.
