About Leanne Duke
I obtained my B.S. in biochemistry from Florida State University with honors in 2019. I immediately transitioned to a prestigious summer internship at the United States Army Institute of Surgical Research at Fort Sam Houston. There I studied the effects of hypoxia on stem cell derived extracellular vesicles as a possible treatment for smoke inhalation lung injury. Following the completion of my internship, I began my PhD in Biomedical Sciences at Florida State University College of Medicine in the lab of Dr. David Meckes. My doctoral research focuses on the role of extracellular vesicles in disease, specifically in cancer, viral infection, and Alzheimer’s. Additionally, assessing their potential as therapeutics and for drug delivery.
