About Leanne Libas

Hello there! My name is Leanne Libas and I have been a disability rights advocate since 2014. I advocate various issues impacting the disability community such as ableism (a form of discrimination towards disabled people), accommodations in the school and work field, and proper representation in the media. I'm also an advocate for the a/Autistic community which I am proud to be a part of! My experience in advocacy led to receiving opportunities such as becoming a part of the Autistic Self Advocacy Network's Autistic Scholars Cohort of 2016 and attending the Association of Programs for Rural Independent Living (APRIL) Youth Conference. My current goals are to attend grad school for a master's degree in social work (MSW), become a disability studies professor, and implement more disability studies major programs in universities and colleges throughout California and hopefully, throughout the United States. In addition to my advocacy work, I have worked in diverse industries (e.g. accounting, human resources, non-profit organizations, and retail) to build my work experience. I possess skills such as organizing files, maintaining confidential information, engaging hospitality towards visitors and conducting visual inspections.
