About Leanne McGregor

Meet the team at Hummingbird Family Psychology - Dr Leanne McGregor and Prince, the therapy dog. Leanne is a registered psychologist who completed her PhD at Griffith University in 2010. The topic of Leanne’s PhD was divorce, interparental conflict, and parenting and the impact of these factors on children. Leanne has over 20 years’ experience working as a clinician in a range of different areas including at risk populations (i.e, offenders, acute mental health, and working with at risk families) as well as less complex presentations. Leanne has a particular interest in perinatal disorders and focusing on the bond between parent and infant. Leanne also works extensively with QPS employees across a range of issues including PTSD. Leanne likes to think of her clients as the expert of their own lives and, working collaboratively with her clients, uses a holistic, client-centred, strength-based approach to assist with any issues that clients may be experiencing. Leanne is an eclectic, intuitive-based therapist who draws on a range of different theoretical modalities. She also uses attachment based therapies to assist with the bond between parents and infants.
