About Leanne Stojmenov

Beginning my professional dance journey as an artist with the West Australian Ballet, I dedicated the next 18 years to The Australian Ballet, where I spent 8 years as a Principal Artist. During this time, I toured extensively across the globe, working alongside the most renowned classical and contemporary choreographers of today. Now, returning to the West Australian Ballet as Rehearsal Director, I am excited to support and inspire the next generation of dancers here in my hometown, where my own journey began. I find great purpose in inspiring creativity, fostering resilience, and nurturing the artistic spirit. I possess a profound enthusiasm for cultivating and guiding the next wave of artists. For several years, I had the privilege of working as a dance lecturer at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA) where I trained students pursuing Diplomas, Advanced Diplomas, and Bachelor of Arts degrees. My role extended beyond the classroom, involving the restaging and directing of numerous productions. The role required a blend of technical expertise, creative vision, and pedagogical skill. I had the opportunity to shape the next generation of dancers, to be a part of their artistic journeys, and to contribute to the vibrant, ever-changing world of dance. As one of the founding committee members and later Vice President of Ballet Without Borders, I played a pivotal role in championing and raising funds to provide pathways and educational opportunities for children from various socio-economic background.
