About Leara Glinzak

Leara Glinzak, ATR-BC, MSAT is a Board Certified Art Therapist, Owner of I Light LLC, current Board Certified Art Therapist with the U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs and the previous Palliative Care Inpatient Board Certified Art Therapist at UCHealth Anschutz Campus. Also, she has been adjunct faculty at PennWest University/Edinboro in the graduate art therapy and clinical mental health program. Leara is grounded in a person centered model and is heavily influenced with existentialism, logo therapy, and spirituality. As a result of her passion about advocating the benefits of receiving art therapy services which has led her to have her research published and a book review to be published in the peer reviewed Art Therapy Journal of the American Art Therapy Association. She has developed two internship programs, and she has become a nationally known presenter and workshop facilitator in the field. Her experience spans across several populations and program development including topics surrounding grief and trauma, addiction, mental health, dementia, pediatric hematology/oncology, family therapy, and palliative care. She also wrote the curriculum and taught art therapy to undergraduate students at Grand Valley State University while becoming President of the Michigan Association of Art Therapy. She has continuously served on the Research Board for the American Art Therapy Association as well. Her education includes a Bachelor of Arts in Art Therapy from Seton Hill University and her Master of Science in Art Therapy with a Concentration in Counseling from Mount Mary University. Currently, Leara is in the Ph.D. Counselor Education and Supervision program at Walden University.
