About Lee Ferguson

Experienced educator and instructional leader whose consistent use of differentiated instructional strategies, culturally relevant pedagogy, and data analysis has continually improved student learning outcomes. Dedicated to creating equity-centered learning environments for both student and adult learners. Exceptionally skilled in curriculum development, instructional design, and professional learning design/delivery while focusing on building capacity and fostering growth in both student and adult learners. I hold an MAT in Science Education from The University of Texas at Dallas and a BA in Biology from Southwestern University. I completed the principal certification program at Lamar University in December 2022. Some of my accomplishments include:+ Contributed to the AP Biology Course and Exam Description (CED) as well as training materials for AP Biology consultants.+ Created and taught two online learning modules used in an AP Biology MOOC offered through a partnership with Rice/EdX.+ Served as a contributor to two AP Biology textbook programs for a major publisher.+ Authored online interactive lab and simulation activities for a major science education company.+ Founded a professional learning community of AP Biology teachers in the Dallas area that provides teacher-led and teacher-designed professional development.+ Served on the state's Biology I TEKS revision committee, aiding in authoring the state standards for Biology I classes.+ Analyzed areas of opportunity and created interactive notebooks functioning as a learning/teaching tool for AP biology students utilized nationwide by hundreds of teachers and thousands of students. I have been acknowledged with numerous awards throughout my career, including being a three-time State Semi-Finalist for the HEB Excellence in Education Award, Allen High School Science Teacher of the Year, National Association of Biology Teachers (NABT) Outstanding Biology Teacher Awardee, NABT Kim Foglia AP Biology Service Award, Plano Independent School District Secondary Teacher of the Year, among others. I am a regular presenter at the NABT Annual Professional Development Conference and have presented at the National Science Teachers Association Annual Conference.
