About Lee Harris

I am a Fellow of the Public Relations Institute of New Zealand (PRINZ), an accredited PR professional (APR), based just north of Punakaiki in the most magnificent part of the Buller District. I am working part-time for the Pike River Recovery Agency, based in Greymouth, and other clients. My immediate past role was with the West Coast District Health Board as their Senior Communications Advisor. A few years back I worked in Christchurch for the Canterbury Earthquake Recovery Authority (CERA), including a secondment to Environment Canterbury to work on communications and engagement for their Hazardous Activities & Industries List (HAIL) ID project to identify potentially contaminated land in Chistchurch. Other roles included delivering communications and marketing for the Selwyn District Council, based in Rolleston, Canterbury; Senior consultant for leading Christchurch PR firm, Carter Price Rennie (now Perceptions); and as a journalist for daily newspapers, radio and magazines. My marketing communications positions include working for an arts festival, tourist operator and museum. I've worked as a Communications Adviser for the Christchurch City Council and for about four years ran the film office and Special Projects (Economic and Community Development) for the Queenstown Lakes District Council. I have edited a couple of books and have been a publicist for music, theatre and film.
