About Lee Holmes

Lee joined Discovery Limited in July 2016 as Head of Legal & Compliance in relation to a proposed financial services operation currently under development at Discovery. Prior to this Lee held several senior positions in the Compliance function of Barclays Africa Group Limited from August 2013 to June 2016, including the Head of Compliance for the Corporate & Investment Bank, the acting Head of Compliance for Barclays Africa Group Limited and most recently the Head of Compliance Barclays Africa Regional Management. Whilst with the Barclays Group, Lee participated in the Barclays Compliance Career Academy operated in conjunction with the Cambridge Judge Business School. Prior to this Lee was the Head of Compliance for Corporate Finance and Global Transaction Banking at Deutsche Bank AG London. He occupied this role for a two year period during which time he was selected to attend the Deutsche Bank Risk Academy. In addition, during his tenure at Deutsche Bank in London, Lee was asked to lead the Compliance structure for the newly established Non Core Assets Division of Deutsche Bank. From October 2007 to June 2011 Lee was Head of Legal & Compliance for Deutsche Bank AG Johannesburg. Before this, from 1996 Lee spent several years in London both with Clifford Chance in their Banking & Securities practice, including a year on secondment to the Office of the General Counsel at Lehmann Brothers and as the General Counsel at Credo Group. Lee joined Barclays Bank PLC in 2006 as a Senior Legal Counsel and led the Barclays Bank Legal team which acted in relation to the final phase of the Absa acquisition. Whilst at Barclays, Lee was identified as and participated in the Barclays Legal Talent Programme. Lee is an admitted Attorney of the High Court of South Africa and is a Solicitor of the Supreme Court of England & Wales. Lee holds both a BA and an LLB degree and an Advanced Diploma in Banking Law (Cum Laude).
