About Lee Hughes

A diverse background of field experience and research, as well as work in close collaboration with the faculty at Sonoma State University, has undoubtedly influenced my decision to pursue a field-focused Geology position. Having earned an undergraduate degree with honors in Geology, completed six months of trail work in the backcountry of the Klamath National Forest, and 6 months as an Ecological Monitor in New Mexico. I am excited to start a challenging and new position. My current employment as an Ecological, Soil, and Vegetation Monitor with the Southwest Conservation Corps and the Bureau of Land Management, especially applies to this position. Current work requires the rapid collection of data using a range of technologies from the simple shovel for digging a soil pit to using tablets to directly transfer data from multiple field projects to an ArcMap database. If granted a position, I seek to utilize my previous experiences collecting standardized information using GIS and ESRI based tools as part of a professional team working closely with federal employees.
