About Lee Keyes
Dr. Keyes received his doctorate in Counseling Psychology in 1991. He has over 32 years experience as a licensed psychologist, including 20 as an administrator of the Counseling Center at the University of Alabama. In 2006 the Counseling Center received its first accreditation by the International Accreditation of Counseling Services, Inc.(IACS). He is currently in part-time private practice which includes consulting activities.Dr. Keyes has interests in the administration of college mental health services, late adolescent and adult general psychotherapy, stress and adjustment of college students, anxiety, depression, and suicide prevention and reduction. His interests include consultation services for those who are concerned about student and adult wellbeing, as well as the development of college and other mental health services.Dr. Keyes currently serves as a Member of the Advisory Council and Senior Site Visitor for IACS, and has also served IACS as the President of the Board of Directors for 2013-2014, Annual Review Officer, and Vice President and Chair of the Board of Accreditation. He is an emeritus member of the Association of University and College Counseling Center Directors. He served as Secretary of the Alabama Psychological Association from 2004 to 2007, and as President of the Association for 2009-2010. He has published and presented conference programs with both regional and national professional organizations, and has taught for the Department of Psychology at The University of Alabama. He also has experience consulting with a psychiatric inpatient facility in Northport, Alabama.In 2009, Dr. Keyes was recognized with the John L. Baier Award for exceptional leadership and service in the Division of Student Affairs at the University of Alabama. He is the author of Delivering Effective College Mental Health Services, available from the Johns Hopkins University Press, and a co-author of The Comprehensive Counseling Center Model.
