Since my disability in 1991 I have struggled to find a niche where I could get off disability and create my own company that would make me self-sufficient. I finally did that in 2004 when I founded The Lapis Connection selling sterling silver lapis jewelry from Santiago, Chile. In 2011 I made a contact in Afghanistan and began selling Alpaca silver jewelry with lapis, malachite, carnelian and turquoise gemstones and after April 2012, with astute marketing, advertising and promotions my sales finally took off. In November 2014 eBay began to close my account due to several packages arriving late prior to laying off 7% of their workforce in March 2015. They finally finally closed my account on February 2 after repeatedly assuring me that they wouldn't so now I am selling on Shopify and the future is uncertain, but still promising.
