I love people. I love managing people, I love meeting people, I love interviewing people and writing their stories.I thrive in a dynamic environment where I won’t necessarily be sitting at a desk all day but am comfortable with that as well.I have enjoyed a variety of writing and editorial positions, and have been quickly promoted in many positions I have held.I never planned on being a journalist or a writer, but I love that too-Local news is important and connects us to our community-I love doing research for a story and ensuring my facts are correct-Journalists are always learning, and I make sure I learn something new everyday-I understand how to interview people and if I need to ask closed, open, probing, or recall questions to move the conversation forward.I have successfully trained and managed staff in a variety of settings-Leading by example is my jam-No task is too small or beneath me when a job needs to get done. I’ve cleaned toilets and swept dust bunnies with my staff-I’ve created a training module to help visual learners remember large amounts of information.I dig efficiency-I was integral in creating a style guide specific to a niche publication for all staff to follow-I created a freelance writer database in order to increase assignment efficiency-If there is a better, faster way to complete a process, I want to help find it-I’m deadline-driven and obsessed with organization.Volunteering and nonprofit work is essential-Completed a 10-month AmeriCorps term where I learned the ins and outs of working at a local nonprofit-Co-direct an NYC volunteer-led nonprofit-Logged 213 hours of service in 2019.I still don’t know what I want to be when I grow up. My major changed five times during undergrad but I’ve been successful in any position I’ve tackled.Most important to me professionally is being a part of a community and helping people; whether that is by condensing and rewriting complex information or answering customer/guest questions/concerns.
