The Accidental Train Driver ‍ I started in the Railway as a Locomotive Driver in 2002 and at the time did not realise that I would become a passionate advocate for this industry and learn so much about the oldest working culture in the world - THE RAILWAY I have developed through my career at it’s various stages as a Locomotive Driver, a Tutor Driver, a Superintendent and a Train Crew Development Specialist and in amongst those roles I have been a career loving, shift working parent to 6 children who will be my greatest legacy. I have driven cattle trains, passenger trains, mineral trains, freight trains, iron ore trains, coal trains, acid trains, diesel trains, electric trains and the longest, heaviest trains in the world. I have seen the wildflowers bloom in the middle of the Pilbara desert. I have seen the Milky Way light up the nights sky like a brilliant metropolis and probably more shooting stars then most people have seen in their lifetime. I have seen the storm clouds roll in and bring new life and the most amazing rainbow serpents. I have seen the sky light up brilliant shades of yellow and pomegranate pink during the most spectacular sunsets and breathtaking sunrises. I am a fearless leader who always does what she says she will do and has an incredible passion for this industry and training others to do their job safely and productively with a focus on constant improvement and accountability. These are the moments I live for and they make me realise that as a proud Kalkadoon woman I am doing the job I was born to do.
