My second child, Hadley, was born missing most of her brain. As a result, she was legally blind and deaf, never spoke, crawled, walked, or fed herself, and required round-the-clock care her entire life. The journey of caring for Hadley and advocating for her took an incredible toll on our family. When Hadley died of pneumonia at age 12, we each began to fall apart in our own way. Hadley’s older brother had become addicted to drugs and alcohol. My husband was falling apart after years of holding us up. And I could barely get out of bed. Thankfully, we each found our path to recovery, and soon made the momentous decision to “Reboot” our lives, sell our house and all our belongings, leaving behind much of the trauma and pain that lived there, to start over again. It wasn’t until my husband’s coach asked him, “When’s your wife going to start coaching?” that I began taking that desire seriously and started working to become a certified life coach. Today, I’m a coach and a guide for women – primarily leaders, entrepreneurs, celebrities, and empty nesters – who are looking to “reboot their joy engine” after journeying through grief, so they can find ways to live differently and move forward confidently and in alignment with their true selves. One of my superpowers is being a connector. Many women who come to me have done a lot of therapy and are tired of it. They simply need support to stay in forward motion. Or they’re scared of the idea of therapy and prefer to start with a coach. I’ve been described as having a “deep and colorful spiritual life.” Through all the trauma I went through, I’ve always known there was something bigger than me in charge, a higher power that would make the sun come up every day. While this is not the emphasis of my coaching, it informs my work with women. I help women who are longing for something to be different or better in their life. Most of my clients are in a transitional season of life. What lights me up about my work? When a woman takes the guideposts, I’ve given her and comes to a life-changing realization all on her own, and then goes forward to make positive changes in her life that transform her image of herself AND her value in the world.
