About Lenora Hume

Lenora is an award-winning Film and TV executive with an in-depth understanding of the creative and business challenges facing the global entertainment industry.After a successful early career in cinematography in her native Canada with Nelvana Ltd, Lenora began producing animation. Ewoks and Droids for Lucasfilm, and Care Bears are amongst her producing credits, which also include Babar and Beetlejuice, for which she won Gemini and Emmy Awards. In 1990, Disney recognized Lenora’s passion and talent for animation and invited her to join their fledgling Television Animation division in California. With a career spanning 16 years, she quickly rose within the organization becoming Senior Vice President of Worldwide Production for both Walt Disney Television Animation and DisneyToon Studios. In 2006, HiT Entertainment (UK) approached Lenora to join them, as Executive Vice President of Production & Programming where she was tasked with preparing the production side of the private equity owned company for a sale. While at HiT, Lenora refreshed some of the world’s most successful pre-school properties, including: Thomas & Friends, Bob the Builder, Angelina Ballerina and Fireman Sam. Additionally, her team developed a robust slate of new properties including Mike the Knight, now airing throughout the world.Completing her assignment at HiT, Lenora re-settled in California and launched an independent production and consulting company. Her roster of clients includes TeamTO: a leading animation studio in France, Defy Media: heading up content creation for SMOSH spin-off channel Shut Up! Cartoons,(2M subscribers and 385M views) and Activision Blizzard producing Skylanders Academy.Lenora has judged for the Juno, KidScreen, Banff World Media Festival and Filminute awards. She is on the Advisory Board for Women in Animation and an active member of BAFTA, The Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, The Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television, and ASIFA.
