About Leon Meyer

Leon Meyer obtained a BSc degree in Environmental Sciences from the North West University - Potchefstroom. He then furthered his studies and obtained an MSc degree in Environmental Science and management at the same university. During this time he was elected to serve on the Zoological Society of Southern Africa (ZSSA) council as student representative that gave him exposure to the research world. He spent 1 year as the department head of Environmental Management at Centurion Academy, before he enrolled for a full time PhD degree in Zoology and Biology (Thesis title: Parasite diversity within native and invasive terrapins: Implications for conservation) as a cotutelle de these collaboration between the North West University – Potchefstroom in South Africa and the University of Perpignan in the South of France and received his degrees in 2014 and 2015 (with distinction) respectively. He started his career with Clinvet International in 2014 as a researcher and from July 2020 till July 2022 he was the acting Site Director at the Clinvet Morocco site. He also functioned as the scientific advisor for Clinvet South Africa and took the position of Snr Manager of the Scientific Operations department at the Clinvet South Africa site in 2022. From 2023, Leon served as a Medical Writer for MMS holdings for 13 months. MMS is an award-winning, data-focused clinical research organization (CRO) that supports the pharmaceutical and biotech industries with a proven, scientific approach to complex trial data and regulatory submission challenges. He rejoined the Clinvet team in February 2024 and is now based at the Clinvet facility in South Dakota USA, acting as a Principal Specialist: Study Management.
