About Leon Ross

Leon has been working in the construction industry for 29 years with experience in various disciplines from civil structures, bridges, maritime, civil works, industrial and commercial buildings, cold storage facilities, container terminals, temporary works and telecommunications facilities, with works ranging from multistorey residential complexes to international container terminals. He has detailed knowledge of several Digital Engineering (DE) packages such as AutoCAD, Infraworks 360, Revit, Navisworks and Microstation and currently leading the development for gamification using Unreal Engine. In the role of Civil Infrastructure Digital Engineering Lead QLD, Leon was the Digital Engineering Manager of New Zealand, and heavily involved in various aspects of the business as Digital Friend for the Civil Infrastructure Group, ANZ Immersive Practitioner (Virtual and Augmented Reality), Software Matter Specialist for Revit, AutoCAD, Infraworks as well as being a member of AECOM’s BIM Healthy Start team (BHS), which ensures that projects with BIM/DE requirements are managed and resourced correctly from the concept phase through to project completion and handover. Understanding various data types and requirements from applications, Leon is well versed in data manipulation and processing to ensure data is delivered accurately and to the client's requirements (both internal and external) utilizing programming languages such as VBA and Dynamo scripting. Leon has worked in civil and structural disciplines on the design side and documentation side. He understands the interface and the complexities that go with them. In the past, he has worked to facilitate collaboration between various disciplines including civil, building structures and maritime components, and teams with different requirements. The outcome from this is that projects are able to be successfully delivered with minimal issues from the design elements.
