About Leon Wolff

I am Professor of Global Business Law at Hitotsubashi University, I coordinate the Global Business Law curriculum as well as coordinate the international exchange and internship program. As an expert in Japanese law and society, I research the interface between business and social justice in Japanese law. My publications canvass such topics as corporate governance, employment, litigiousness, gender equity, legal reform and popular culture. I also research and write on broader Asian and comparative law questions. I am also active in the scholarship of learning and teaching (SOLT), especially legal education, as well as translation studies. My publications include six co-edited books and multiple book chapters, journal articles, looseleaf updates and shorter pieces such as book reviews, newspaper articles and dictionary entries. My educational qualifications are:* two first-class honours degrees (and university medals) in both law and Japanese Studies;* three masters degrees in Arts in Japanese Interpreting and Translation (MAJIT); in Asian and Comparative Law (completed at the University of Washington under a Fulbright Award); and Higher Education.* two graduate certificates in legal practice and flexible learning. I am founding co-director of the Australian Network for Japanese Law (ANJeL) and the Asia Pacific Legal Institute of Australia. I am a decorated teacher with a senior fellowship from the Higher Education Academy (UK), two Vice-Chancellor's Awards for teaching excellence (UNSW and Bond University) and a National Citation for Contribution to Student Learning, among other institutional and national awards.
