I meld strong quantitative skills with a creative business acumen that is rarely found. At my core, I am a business oriented professional. Starting with my MBA from the University of Chicago, I gained experience in full-time positions in financial services and commodities trading as well as consulting positions in diverse sectors such as healthcare, travel/entertainment and apparel. While gaining first hand exposure to the way businesses in various industries operate, I amassed superior IT skills in data management. Those skills are manifested primarily in managing data and deriving conclusions using Microsoft Office tools such as Excel, Access and PowerPoint, especially the VBA coding required to maximize capabilities. The data sources often come from writing custom queries to the main database using both Oracle and SQL Server. I developed those skills because I felt that in order to understand the business issues I was developing, I needed to be in control of the tool so that I could do my own ad hoc what-if scenarios without having to rely on IT developers. I moved to Houston in June 2016 from Fairfield County Connecticut and have been consulting at NRG in support of the portfolio manager for the northeast retail sales. I have been tasked to streamline applications that the group uses to analyze the efficacy of various energy products that are offered to both residential and commercial customers. My role is to modify the analytical tools, mostly Excel, as templates for future analyses. Once the models are completed, the results are reviewed and prepared for presentation into PowerPoint presentations. I have shown an aptitude for observing trends and drawing conclusions from the model outcomes. The result is suggestions to the portfolio manager for new products or modifications of existing products.
