Leonardo is presently leading the Licensing, Marketing and Strategic Development activities in CONSER S.p.A. in close coordination with the C.E.O. Flavio Simola He joined CONSER S.p.A. in 2021 after servicing 43 years in the Technip Group, initially from Technip Italy in Rome where he reached the position of Chief Technology Officer and lately at Corporate level in Paris where his last position was the one of Group VP for the Petrochemicals, Fertilizers & Renewables Product Lines. In the above position Leonardo had the responsibility of proposing and driving the technological strategies of the Group to support worldwide EPC business activities. The position was also providing for the management and growth of the portfolio of proprietary technologies and of privileged associations with third parties’ technology owners and licensors. In the same position Leonardo closely cooperated with the Corporate M&A and took a primary role in the evaluation, due diligence, acquisition and integration of various technologies and technology organizations. Among them, the acquisition of the Stone & Webster Division, Zimmer, Hummingbird Ethanol-to-Ethylene technology and the EPICEROL Glycerol-to-Epichlorohydrin technology. Previously, as Chief Technology Officer (CTO) in Technip Italy, Leonardo was responsible of Licensing activities to promote and support any EPC projects having a technological content as a potential differentiator. In this position, Leonardo developed and managed direct commercial cooperation with key licensors and technology owners, by fostering both open source and club-type relationships for joint early stage promotion of licensed projects. As CTO, Leonardo was also instrumental in driving Technip Italy towards emerging technologies and fields of potential EPC business interest. Among them, Polymers, Phosphate Fertilizers, Caprolactam, Gas-To-Market technologies and GTL (PetroSA and Oryx projects), Green Diesel (NExBTL Program), Green Chemicals, etc. In the early years of his professional life, Leonardo managed the Study Dept. of Technipetrol (the former name of Technip Italy) and personally led most of the Master Planning and Bankable Feasibility Studies performed by the Company for its clients. The combined expertise in the areas of Technology and Licensing on one side and of Master Planning and Feasibility Studies on the other side, which was an original feature of the Licensing and Studies Dept. led by Leonardo, set up the basis of the current Early Involvement strategies being pursued by Technip Italy and by all the Group.
