About Leonhard Brader

For over 12 years, I have been working as an IP Manager at Rohde & Schwarz, a leading company in the fields of test and measurement, radio communication, and cybersecurity. In this role, I optimize the company's global patent portfolio, support individual business units in generating intellectual property rights that significantly contribute to the implementation of the IP strategy, and advise the management board on strategic decisions in the area of intellectual property. I am an electrical engineer trained at the Technical University of Munich and hold a Master of Laws in Intellectual Property Law and Management from the University of Strasbourg. In addition, I have extensive knowledge and experience in electronic design, electrical engineering, and hardware design, which I acquired and applied in my previous positions as a project engineer at Wittur Group and TELAIR. My current mission as an IP Manager is to optimize the cost-benefit ratio in patent portfolios of companies and business units. Optimization is achieved, on the one hand, through portfolio cleanup based on an internal economic-technical-legal assessment, and on the other hand, through the generation of high-quality patents with IP design in the most relevant future areas of the company or business unit.Patent attorneys tell companies which patents they can have, IP managers tell companies which patents they should have."
