About Leonora Schwarz

I once very much enjoyed retail management but after years in the business, I found myself uninspired and craving change. I began to research various industries in pursuit of a field that offered a wide variety of career paths and job opportunities; I landed on insurance. After completing the Business of Insurance program at Fanshawe College, I began my insurance career with Economical in 2005 as a Personal Lines Assistant. Over the years, I progressed to a Senior Personal Lines Underwriter, Commercial Auto Underwriter, Quality Review Specialist and most recently I joined the Underwriting Services team as a Senior Commercial Auto Analyst. I am accountable for file audits, targeted reviews, analysis, regional support and training all with the objective and end goal of continuously improving the quality of underwriting within our organization. I work closely with my internal customers to ensure the voices of all stakeholders are heard and I make meaningful and realistic recommendations to close gaps and improve underwriting quality. I have completed my Lean Six Sigma yellow belt certification and have an almost embarrassing level of enthusiasm for identifying and implementing process efficiencies. I have enjoyed the privilege of mentoring and training many junior team members along the way and I continue to maintain and build strong relationships with my peers and customers. This I consider being a highlight of my past roles and current role.
