Background

About Les Phelps

As a Project Manager at ADAS, I lead our work delivering the Support Hub for the DEFRA ADOPT Fund, helping farmers and land managers access funding to trial and adopt new technologies. I coordinate project teams, support applicants, manage stakeholder relationships, and ensure delivery against project goals. Previously, I worked as a Senior Consultant in the Agriculture & Land team at Ricardo, managing key projects for organisations like Natural England and Defra. I developed project plans, managed budgets and timelines, and built strong client relationships. My work also included leading advice programmes, overseeing content for the Farming Advice Service, and contributing to the UK’s Agriculture Emissions Inventory QA/QC processes. I hold a BSc in Geography from the University of Portsmouth, with a focus on physical geography, soil science, and GIS. I’m passionate about supporting sustainable agriculture and environmental management through effective project delivery.
