About Lesley Steele

Lesley is a dedicated visual storyteller with a background in video & film production and digital design. Originally a New York City native she obtained a BFA in Design Technology from Parsons The New School for Design and Masters in Directing from The School of Visual Arts. She writes, directs and edits short and long-form video. Inspired by experimental film, her work reflects the juxtaposition of mediums including 16mm and analog tape to explore new meaning in the moving image. In 2018 Lesley was selected to participate in UnionDoc's Documentary CoLab where she and nine other filmmakers directed, edited and produced a body of short documentary films in 2019. Previously a Video Shooter & Editor at Genius News and Digital Designer at MTV & Nickelodeon & HBO. Currently Lesley is the Lead Editor on Buzzfeed’s daily news series “BTW” in partnership with SnapChat.
