About Leslie Bowman

I am a career educator with a Quality Matters Review Certification and experience in instructional design and online faculty training. My specialized talents are personalizing instruction, providing individual support necessary for students to succeed in reaching their learning goals, and producing online courses with multiple learning strategies for promoting the transition from f2f to online learning. I have written, designed, and taught online undergraduate and graduate courses in Criminal Justice, English, Educational Technology, Communications, Writing, Blackboard, and Homeland Security/FEMA Certification programs. I have developed a new competency-based university writing program to replace semester-based online classes. My volunteer service includes four years as a CASA volunteer child abuse investigator, and later I served as the local CASA Board President. I teach self defense and worked for six years in private security and retail asset protection. I hold certifications in various areas of School Safety, Crisis Response, and Threat Assessment. I have presented innovative instructional models and best-practice strategies at national conferences since 2002 (orientation to online learning, teaching online, effective grading practices, computer- mediated communication, success strategies across the curriculum). My books include Online Teaching for Adjunct Faculty, Communities of Practice, Online Learning for High School and College Students, and Self Defense/Personal Safety. My current private consulting business includes Learning Success Coaching, Faculty Mentoring, Manuscript Editing, Speaker Preparation and Coaching, and Author Mentoring.
