About Leslie Castro
My passion is to help create more resilient living environments and communities. I believe this is essential in lower income communities where sustainability is a lesser known concept. As a native speaker of Spanish, I would be especially interested in working in Spanish speaking communities, like border towns, and in areas such as food systems and education. Transitioning to more sustainable practices would enable these underprivileged communities to become more economically, socially, and environmentally robust. As of now, I have taken several food and ecosystem related courses at Arizona State University and am currently interning for the UA Cooperative Extension in the School and Community Gardens Department. I hope to be able to apply the skills that I have acquired and aid in transitioning local communities in a more sustainable direction.
