About Leslie de Haro

The biggest reward about working with youth is to see them flourish into responsible young adults. Empowering them with all of the options and resources they have is great. I have tutored 3rd graders and mentored college students. I have experience with foster youth since I interned in an at risk youth shelter. After graduating with a bachelors in sociology and a minor in education from the University of California Riverside, I was able to start a second term with Americorps as a College and Career Coordinator at a high school in San Francisco. Youth development is key to bring change to our communities. In my current position I have acquired many new skills due to being embedded in a classroom with freshmen and sophomores. As a student success coach I also case manage a class of 37 students. I also teach a college and career class to sophomores where I have learned to develop curriculum and lesson plans for a class of 17. As you can see my passion is in empowering our youth to give them the tools they may need to go onto higher education or a vocational program that fits their needs. My goal is to continue onto graduate school for a masters in school counseling. I plan to become a College counselor or adviser in the near future. I feel that it is something rewarding to guide students onto their callings. Whether it is at a shelter or at a college or even as a behavior interventionist. I feel that I have the skills to adapt to a variety of jobs without much trouble.
