Background
About Leslie Floyd
Privacy Advisor | Notary Public | Lifelong Writer and Creative | Recovering Teacher | Part-Time Chef and Full-Time Fur Mom Support, connection, and creativity are the themes of my career—and my life in general. As a Privacy Advisor, I work with internal clients to translate legal requirements into procedures and actions which enable compliance with privacy laws, while meeting the needs of the business unit. I collaborate with colleagues in Architecture, Information Security, Data Governance, Vendor Management, and other teams to ensure privacy requirements are defined at optimal point in the product, website or business process development cycle. In addition, I lead our Privacy Tech team which facilitates privacy by design by developing and maintaining ROPA through our privacy technology tools. While working as a senior paralegal, I learned to appreciate the value of thorough research, sound processes, and open, frequent communication to accomplish big goals. I oversaw a variety of projects and enjoyed diving deep into cases, conducting investigative research, assisting with arbitrations, composing post-hearing briefs, and seeing cases through. My previous litigation experience serves me well in the discovery and information-gathering processes. A former teacher, I have applied my background in education to my legal work with managing multiple projects, training junior-level staff, and guiding the document review and production process. I'm also interested in family law as it's a field that synthesizes my extensive legal experience with my past as an educator. Helping people is the "why" behind everything I do. I've always been a writer, and I leverage my creative side in legal writing. I truly enjoy the research process, creating synopses, and analyzing subjects. My colleagues and managers tell me I'm thorough and efficient, and I love writing legal briefs and using my skills to help a case. This 'left/right brain' combination of legal + creative writing skills is my differentiator. When I'm not working and creating, I love to travel and explore other cultures. I lived in Paris while attending culinary school, and as an airline employee, I had the opportunity to see places like Buenos Aires, Istanbul, and Copenhagen. Travel is restorative and inspirational: it keeps me going!
