About Leticia Laing

My legal education has ensured that I am grounded with an ethical and analytical perspective on community concerns, governance and tools for change. 🤝 I'm passionate about social equality, the environment and have always sought connections to contribute and add value to my community. As a board member for the trailblazing Myli-My Community Library not-for-profit charity, I am inspired to continuously seek opportunities to learn and contribute to the dynamic phases of organisations and people. Using a range of diverse communication skills and a desire to contribute, I was elected as a councillor for the Bass Coast Shire in November 2020 and have served as the Deputy Mayor since November 2021 until November 2022. I strive for solutions in the face of challenges including climate change, social inequality and regional living. Having worked on several grassroots climate action projects, I use an extensive range of media skills to connect people to causes, maximise people’s abilities and spread key messages to empower and engage. As a Law/Arts graduate who spent seven years working as a journalist, I have dedicated my career to advocate for, and learn about what make communities tick and how to make them better.
