About Lev Slavin

Lev Slavin's consulting work builds on two decades of experience as a market research, data analytics, and corporate finance expert for startups, nonprofits, and Fortune 100 companies, in areas ranging from fintech to healthcare to education. After earning a BS in Finance in 2001, Lev spent 8 years at two Fortune 100 companies: CSX and Citigroup. At CSX, he was part of an internal consulting team, providing business intelligence for international sales, creating economic models and forecasts to support capacity planning and marketing strategy, mapping worldwide industry trends and instituting map-based analytical methods that informed strategic decisions by senior management. At Citigroup, Lev engaged in predictive modeling and the development of automated decision-making algorithms as a risk manager for the Home Depot’s consumer and small-business loan portfolios, both during the housing bubble and the housing and financial crises that followed. In 2011, Lev earned an MBA from the University of Chicago and launched Venturesome Consulting, a boutique firm providing hands-on expertise to entrepreneurial companies. Engagements primarily focus on building tools and processes that facilitate the fact-based decision making, strategic planning, and financial management necessary to a company’s successful development. Select accomplishments: o created numerous financial models, helping early-stage companies credibly convey the value of their businesses and raise $40M+ from investors o built from scratch an extensive portfolio of corporate finance reports and analytical tools to support the turnaround of an international manufacturing company o rebuilt the chart of accounts, straightened out revenue recognition, and shepherded an accounting system transition for a rapidly growing tech startup o conducted enterprise-wide customer surveys for a $1B health services company and developed clear storylines synthesizing the results for several audiences
