About Levi Bieber

As a passionate power engineering postdoctoral fellow, I have recently earned a PhD from the University of British Columbia—Okanagan, where I designed advanced power converters for high-voltage direct-current (HVDC) systems and simulated power systems in real-time. I continue to work on these topics as a postdoctoral fellow at the same institution. I defended my dissertation in February 2023, titled “DC-Fault Tolerant Multilevel Voltage Source Converters with Hybrid and Multiplexed-Arm Structures for High Voltage Direct Current Applications,” which introduced novel converter topologies that can enhance the cost-effectiveness of new converter stations. My work has resulted in the publication of ten journal papers (plus one under second round of review) as well as seven conference articles. Throughout my PhD studies, I was fortunate to receive the highly competitive NSERC Alexander Graham Bell Scholarship, which provided me with valuable support totaling Recently, I was also awarded the NSERC Postdoctoral Fellowship, which further validates my expertise and dedication in the field. As I continue my postdoctoral fellowship, I am actively seeking opportunities in power engineering, particularly in the exciting field of HVDC. I am eager to apply the knowledge and skills I have gained during my studies to solve real-world problems in the industry.
